Hi there! I'm Yoshimichi Ishikawa, a lecturer at the University of Shizuoka in Japan, specializing in international trade law. I had the opportunity to pursue my studies at the University of Bern, Switzerland, thanks to a Swiss government scholarship. Before joining the University of Shizuoka, I worked for approximately four years in Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, specifically in the Economic Bureau's WTO Dispute Settlement Division, where I actively participated in various WTO disputes involving Japan. My doctoral thesis, submitted to the University of Bern, focused on the SPS Agreement and food safety. For more details about my CV, you can find it here.
At the University of Shizuoka, I conduct courses on international trade law taught in English. My mission is to support aspiring Asian students, including those from Japan, who wish to pursue in-depth studies in international trade law at universities and graduate schools in the United States and Europe. I am dedicated to helping these students build a strong foundation in international trade law through my classes and gain valuable experience in delivering presentations in English, aligning with their career aspirations.
Additionally, I am currently learning Chinese and can engage in daily conversations. As a result, students from China and Taiwan are more than welcome to join my courses and participate actively.
